Project Story
The Central Substation 2 program supported ongoing infrastructure improvements at JFK International Airport serving New Terminal One, Terminal 6, and the Ground Transportation Center, with environmental compliance woven directly into an active construction schedule. Roux’s scope included preparation of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to meet applicable regulatory requirements and minimize potential environmental impacts from construction activities.
Working alongside the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Yonkers Contracting Company, and Syska Hennessy Group, our team provided ongoing support through routine SWPPP inspections and review of inspection reports to verify compliance with permit conditions and project specifications.
Approach
- ✓SWPPP & EMP preparation: compliance frameworks built for an active airport construction environment.
- ✓Inspection oversight: routine SWPPP inspections and inspection report review aligned with construction sequencing.
- ✓Submittal review & reporting: construction submittal review and monthly reports verifying compliance with permit conditions and project specifications.
Roux provided environmental compliance support across the construction program, work recognized with the ACEC New York Platinum Award in Category K: Energy (2026).
